Billie E. Gibbs was born January 9, 1920 in Ty Ty, GA. Billie married Helen Marie Gattiker of Brooklyn, NY and they raised five sons and a daughter: John, Joanne, Eulin, Bill, Jack and Paul. Billie picked up the game of golf in the later years of his life at the urging of several of his sons. During the past 10 years of his life Billie marred Louise Meeks from Pearson, GA, and she also took up the game of golf.
In the fall of 1988 Billie's 5 sons and adopted son Gary Register (Joanne's Husband) decided to hold a golf tournament in honor of their father. It was decided by unanimous vote that all 5 sons and Gary must be present to make it an official tournament. The group decided that it would provide a plaque to commemorate the winner of the Billie E. Gibbs Memorial Golf Tournament each year including their name, date, and score. The winner displays the plaque in his home or office until the next tournament. The group also decided to purchase a silver cup naming it the Louise Cup (for details ask Eulin why) and present it to the person shooting the highest score in the tournament.
